Frequently Asked Questions
REGISTRATION FOR 2013 OPENS APRIL 1st!

Will finishers receive medals?
Yes. Finishers in both the Marathon and Half Marathon will receive finisher medals. Marathon Relay teams and 10k finishers will receive ribbons.
How is the race timed?
All events will be chip timed with the exception of the Kids Dashes. Timing will be managed by RogueTiming.
Will age division awards be given?
Awards will be given to the top three finishers in the following categories for the Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k events:
Top Three Male Overall
Top Three Female Overall
Top Three Age Division Male and Female:
19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over
Do runners and walkers get t-shirts?
Yes. Runners in all events registered by September 21 will be guaranteed a shirt.
When can I sign my child up for the Kids Dashes?
You may register the day before the race at Packet Pick-up between noon and 4:00. You may also register in the morning, day of race between at 6:30 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. or on the football field from 9:00-9:45. Dashes start at 10:00 a.m. Cash or Checks only. $2 per child. Ribbons will be given.
Will there be post race food and refreshments?
Yes, there will be lefse, hot chicken broth, fruit, bagels, electrolyte drinks, coffee, and water available for race participants at the finish line.
Can I get a refund once I have signed up?
No refunds will be given. No medical comps and no rollovers.
Can I transfer my registration to someone else?
No.
Can I change to a different distance once I have already registered?
Yes. You can change events by notifying registrar@poulsbomarathon.com by noon on Thursday, October 10th. If you are moving up to a greater distance, you will have to pay the difference in registration fees at packet pick-up. Cash or check only. If you are moving down a distance, you will not be refunded the difference.
Can someone else pick up my packet?
*If you registered using a discount as Active Military Personnel or as a Group Health Member you will need to present your ID in person at packet pickup. Otherwise, yes, with written and signed permission from you.
How do I confirm that my on-line registration went through?
Active.com will send you a confirmation e-mail. Any problems or questions concerning on-line registration can be answered by calling toll free 877-228-4881 or email support@active.com.
Is the marathon course certified?
Both the Full Marathon and Half Marathon courses are USATF Sanctioned and Certified. Qualify for Boston or guarantee your entry into the NYC Marathon with a qualifying time!

Is the 10k Certified?
Not at this time. We hope to have it certified by race day.
Is there an age requirement for the Marathon?
Runners must be at least 18 years of age to register for the full marathon.
Will there be an awards ceremony?
You may pick your award up at the awards table once results have been verified. Unclaimed awards will be mailed.
When and where can I pick up my race packet the day before the race?
Packet pick-up will be on Saturday, October 12th from noon to four o'clock. The location is still to be determinded. Check back for details. Please click on directions tab for directions to packet pick-up.
Where do I pick up my race packet day of race?
Day of race registration and packet pick up will be located at NKHS starting at 6:30 a.m. Registration tables will close 15 minutes prior to your event.
Where should I park?
In the North Kitsap High School parking lots accessed from Caldart Ave.
Will there be bathrooms at the start and on the course?
NKHS Stadium bathrooms (located on the back side of the stadium) will be open before, during and after the race. Portable toilets will be placed near the tennis courts above the starting line as well as along the course and located near aid stations. There are public bathrooms at Lions Park, American Legion Park, and Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park.
Will there be aid stations on the course?
Aid stations will be approximately every two miles on the full and half marathon courses. There will be one aid station on the 10k route. Aid stations will offer some or all of the following: water, electrolyte drinks, energy gels, vaseline, ice, first aid kits.

How long will the course be open?
There will be a 6-hour time limit for the marathon route. The finish line closes at 1:30 p.m.
***Attention Half Marathon Walkers: WA State Troopers will be assisting in the crossing of SR305 until 11:30 a.m. This allows you 4 hours to cover the first 11.5 miles of the course, after which you will need to cross on your own and at your own risk.
Will there be a clothing drop?
No. Please secure your belongings in your vehicle.
Where is the race start and finish?
Races start at 7:30 a.m. on Caldart Ave below the NKHS tennis courts near the intersection with Mesford St. Races will finish on the track in front of the stadium. **Kids Marathon will start at 8:00 a.m. on Mesford St. on the north side of NKHS Track in front of the Viking Ship.
Where are some good locations for my friends and family to see me along the course?
Full, Half and 10k Spectating
*At the starting line - runners will loop past this same location about 1 1/2 miles into the race.
*At the finish at North Kitsap High School Stadium.
Full and Half Spectating
*At Lions Park - 6th & Fjord. Runners will be just over 6 miles into the race. This park offers a playground, bathrooms and is a scenic place along the waterfront to take pictures.
*At the intersection of Jensen & Iverson (Poulsbo Post Office) between miles 7 and 8 - the picturesque shops on Front St. spill upward into the lovely Poulsbo Place neighborhood.
Full Marathon Spectating
At the intersection of Suquamish Way & Augusta Ave @ the Suquamish Community House (House of Awakened Culture). - Beachfront, views of Seattle, across the street from Bella Luna Pizzeria as well as the Agate Pass Cafe and the Suquamish Veterans Memorial. (Near mile 20 of the course.)
How do I become a member of the Poulsbo Marathon Belt Buckle Club?
Run a Boston Qualifying time in the Full Marathon. You will be mailed a belt buckle upon verification of results and your name will be listed on our results page as part of our exclusive club!
